Welcome to
The Arc
An online space for movement educators who are tired of wondering what to teach next.
What is The Arc?
The Arc is an online community for yoga teachers and movement educators who are sick and tired of flying by the seat of their pants. This is where disjointed class themes and chaotic sequences go to die.
Inside The Arc, we look at class-planning through a big-picture lens that values progression over intensity, intentionality over novelty, and consistency over mediocrity. Together, we’ll move through 6 six-week blocks, each building cumulatively on the one before it. Each block features its own curriculum, class planning template, and dedicated discussion space. You can join The Arc at any time and begin with Block One to start planning your classes. Once you’re inside, you’ll never get stuck on what to teach, ever again.
Who is The Arc for?
The Arc is designed for movement educators who have agency over what they teach and why. This program is ideal for those who create pre-registered programs or who have dedicated students attending class every week. The Arc benefits those who prioritize progression and want to help their students get from where they are to where they want to be. This isn’t a place for cookie-cutter class plans or performative sequencing. This program is designed to help you take everything you know and use it to fuel a long-term teaching vision.
NB: If you work at a studio where you’re expected to follow a set sequence from week to week, The Arc likely won’t work for you.
How does The Arc work?
The Arc is made of four key learning tools: Curriculum, Teaching Templates, Group Discussion, and Class Examples.
Curriculum: The What and Why
➡️ The problem(s) we want to help our students solve, or better understand, in each block
➡️ The movement tools you can use to help them on that journey
➡️ What improvement and progression looks like, so you can see how your students are receiving the material
➡️ How to present movement in a way that reflects a clear arc of energy, guiding students through a process that builds cumulatively rather than haphazardly.
Teaching Templates: A Balance between Structure and Individual Agency
Every block will include a guide you can follow to keep your class planning on track. These templates will be printable PDFs you can write on and reuse until thinking in arcs comes naturally. These templates will provide an outline to follow, while allowing you to fill in the specifics that will make your classes unique to you. The Arc is not designed for those looking for a paint-by-numbers solution. You’ll use these templates to organize and structure your ideas, without losing your sense of agency in the process.
Group Discussion: Bringing Theory into Practice
The community element of The Arc is key to your success here. As we move through each block, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share your students’ wins and challenges. This is where you can share your class planning ideas, as well as any hurdles you run into as you aim to get students from point A to B. You’ll be encouraged to share freely and vulnerably as we move through this learning process together.
Class Examples: Where The Arc comes to life
Every block will feature at least one video where Cecily shares an actual class of hers, similar to the “Director’s Cuts” in DMS. These videos are screen-share recordings where you’ll see her teaching the class, but hear a separate commentary that speaks to the intentionality behind every movement and transition. These examples will give you deeper insight into the “what” and “why” of arc-inspired teaching.
Are there any live elements?
Yes! Every block will begin with one live group call, led by Cecily. These kick-off calls will lecture/discussion with movement as Cecily goes over the curriculum and covers that block’s key learning objectives. These calls will be held on Mondays at 10am PT and run for 60-90 min. Every call will be recorded and accessible indefinitely inside the community platform.
At the midpoint of every block, there will be a live Q+A call, held on Thursdays at 12pm PT. These sessions will be more “office hours” style, providing a check-in on how things are going.
